Oloid, a Sunnyvale, Calif.-based company that emerged from stealth to introduce a contactless biometrics platform for “deskless workers”, raised $5m in seed funding. The round was led by Emergent Ventures, and joined by Unusual Ventures and several marquee investors.

Founded by serial entrepreneurs Mohit Garg and Madhu Madhusudhanan, Oloid is an AI company committed to providing secure and privacy-forward authentication for deskless workers within essential industries, such as manufacturing, food supply chain and healthcare. It offers biometric authentication technology for secure operation of time clocks, doors and turnstiles without the need of touching any communal surfaces. Workers access the app on standard tablets; it integrates with leading existing time and attendance systems, as well as most physical access control systems (PACS).
